Configuring Pinless Debit Gateway

OVERVIEW

Pinless debit is an intelligent payment processing solution that enables you to route your debit card transactions through interbank networks that decrease your restrictions and increase your overall processing power.

With the LimeLight  Pinless Debit integration:

  • Transactions get processed through a new payment gateway: Pinless Debit
  • Transactions get routed to interbank networks (e.g. New York Currency Exchange (NYCE), Pulse, STAR, etc.) - instead of Visa and Mastercard
  • Using LimeLight’s enhanced Payment Routing functionality, you can specifically route debit transactions to the Pinless Debit gateway to reduce your overall chargeback rate

CONFIGURING YOUR PINLESS DEBIT GATEWAY PROFILE

To configure Pinless Debit gateway into your LimeLight CRM, you will go to Admin > Providers and select "Add New Provider Profile" from the Actions drop down menu.  Select 'Payment/Gateway' as the type, select Pinless Debit from the Provider drop-down list, and fill out the required gateway parameters.

These parameters are briefly described here for your reference:

Alias: Create a name for this profile.  For internal purposes only, it helps you identify your gateway among several others in your CRM.

Merchant Account Code: This will be provided to you by LimeLight.

Username: This will be provided to you by LimeLight.

Password: This will be provided to you by LimeLight.

Merchant Code: This will be provided to you by LimeLight.

Currency: Pinless Debit currently supports USD, EUR, GBP, and CAD currencies.

Test Mode: Set to YES if you would like to use this gateway in test mode.

CONFIGURING YOUR PAYMENT ROUTING PROFILE

Once your gateway profile is configured, you will need to create or update your Payment Routing profile(s).  There are two ways to configure Pinless Debit in the Payment Routing Profile.

Payment Routing Summary Configuration

To quickly utilize the Pinless Debit Routing within your Payment Routing profile without having to configure Advanced Campaign Routing,  you will select Yes for the ‘Pinless Debit Routing’ field > then type in your desired ‘Transaction Volume’ percentage. The Transaction Volume percentage will allow you to control how much debit traffic is routed to your Pinless Debit gateway(s).

Best Practices:  It is important that non-debit gateways receive some debit transactions in order to maintain proper gateway health and to help prevent higher than usual chargeback ratios.

Non-debit transactions are known to have higher chargeback rates than debit transactions - If all debit traffic is being routed away from traditional gateways - then the chargeback ratios will go up and you may risk of those traditional gateways being shut down.

Note: The Pinless Debit Routing configuration cannot be used with the Payment Methods  Advanced Routing settings. The Pinless Debit Routing configuration will override Payment Methods Advanced Routing settings you may have configured.  All other Advanced Routing settings (Payment Types, Product IDs, Billing Country and BIN Profile) can be used.

Advanced Campaign Routing Configuration

Debit: These are cards that LimeLight has identified as debit cards

Non-Debit: This includes credit, charge cards, and unidentified BINs

Debit cards account for 60% of transactions within the LimeLight database. If you choose to combine debit and non-debit cards, it will cover 100% of all LimeLight BINs.

Best Practices:

For best results, we recommend:

  1. In the Payment Routing Summary section, configure the ‘Payment Routing Process’ as "weighted" in the Payment Routing Summary.
  2. In the Advanced Campaign Routing section select only ‘Debit’ for the Pinless Debit Gateway(s).
  3. In the Advanced Campaign Routing section select only ‘Debit’ and ‘Non-Debit for all other gateways listed.
  4. The Default gateway should NOT be a Pinless Debit gateway, the default is only used if the transaction does not meet any criteria for any of the advanced routing configurations.
